यो फूलहरूको भेदबाट अथवा चोप रङको आधारमा चार प्रकारका अफिम हुन्छन् । प्रायः सेतो फूल सर्वत्र पाइन्छ। यो वर्षायु क्षूप ३-४ फुट अग्लो, काण्ड चम्किलो हरियो झुस भएको, विषम दन्तुरखण्डित आयताकार पात, कटौरी समान फूल माघमा निक्लन्छन् । फूल निक्लेको २-३ हप्तामा कच्चा फल र बोटलाई दिनदिनै चिरा गरी तथा बोटमा अलगअलग ठाउँमा घाउ पारी अर्को दिन बिहानै काँसको थालीमा दुधिलो चोप सङ्कलन गर्नुपर्छ । एक महिनाभरमा सङ्कलित चोपको पानी फ्याँकेर गाढा हुन गएको अफिमलाई औषधीय प्रयोगार्थ केवल गतिशील चिकित्साहेतु उपयोग गर्नुहोस् । मुर्च्छामा मात्तिने, पागलपन देखाउने, जिन्दगीलाई विकृतिजन्य अपराधमा दुरुपयोग वा खेलवाड गर्ने अज्ञानीले अफिम छुनु हुँदैन । अफिम व्यसनको दुष्परिणामले नैतिकपतन, दुब्लाउने, रक्तअल्पता, मांसपेशीहरूको दुर्बलता, निद्रानाश, तन्द्रा, पेटको खराबी, नपुंसकता, मानसिक बेचैनी, फोक्सोमा गड्बडी, श्वासअवरोध, मासिकधर्म र पाठेघरमा समस्या, अनियन्त्रित मन-बुद्धि-विचार इत्यादिको कामै नलाग्ने रोगी मान्छे बनाउँछ । अफिम छोड्ने उपाय: यम-नियम ध्यान, आसन, प्राणायाम, यौगिक क्रियाहरू, विपस्याना ध्यान, गतिशील चिकित्सा ध्यान गर्नुपर्छ । गोरखमुण्डी वा मरहठी, वनपान, सुपारी, कुचिला, चिराइतो, जाइफल, वज्रगुरु, पाँचऔँले, यार्सागुम्बा, टिम्मुर, जेठीमधु, सर्पगन्धा, इत्यादि चूर्ण/बुटी बिहानै र सुत्नेबेलामा अथवा मादक नसाको माग भएको समयमा ५-७ पटक थोरै चुस्ने काम गर्नुपर्छ । चुस्ने र चपाइरहनाले अफिमको आदत बिस्तारै घट्दछ । अफिमको गुण र प्रयोग : अल्पमात्रामा प्रयोग गर्दा क्षाराभ भएकाले अफिमबाट निद्राकर, वेदनाहर, ग्राही, रक्तस्तम्भक, कफघ्न, कासहर, मादक, स्वेदजनन, शोथघ्न, समस्त वातनाशक गुण-धर्म मानिन्छ । अल्पमात्राको सेवनले उत्तेजक -बाजीकर, मनमा आनन्द, विचार र उत्साहमा वृद्धि, कामवासना बढ्ने र वीर्यस्तम्भक भनिन्छ । थकावट, विशेष दुखाइ- दर्द र अप्रिय संवेदनाहरूको ज्ञान कम हुन्छ । मन शान्त भई निद्रा आउँछ, स्पर्शज्ञान सुख-दुःख सम्झने शक्ति कम हुन्छ र बेहोसीमा सुत्ने मन लाग्छ । गृध्रसी, वातनाडी सुन्निएको, कटिशूल, वृक्कशूल आमाशयिकशूल, पार्श्वशूल, आन्त्रिकशूल, कष्टआर्तव, चोट, अस्थिभङ्ग, सन्धिभङ्ग, सङ्ग्रहणी, फोक्सो शोथ, आमवात इत्यादि रोगमा अल्पसमय स्वल्प मात्रामा शुद्ध अफिमले एकदम फाइदा पुऱ्याउँछ । २-३ रत्ती खाने र अफिम योगीराज वातव्यधि सिद्ध तेल वा कुनै तेल/घ्यूमा पाक गरी मालिस तथा लेप लगाउँदा गतिशील उपचार हुन्छ । राज्यले खेती गर्न असमर्थ भएमा किसानहरूसँग किन्ने व्यवस्थाको ग्यारेन्टी गर्नुपर्छ । नेपालका बासिन्दाहरू स्वामी र धनी बनाउन अफिम लाखौँ रुपियाँ प्रतिकिलोग्राम बेच्नुपर्छ । विदेशमा गएर अफिम खाने दुर्व्यसनीहरूको नोकरी गर्नु र नसालु औषधि भित्र्याउनु पाप ठहरिन्छ । २-४ जनाले गोप्य खेती गर्ने होइन, ठूलो समूह मिलेर राज्यलाई साक्षी राखी व्यापक खेती सबैले गर्दा राम्रो हुन्थ्यो कि ?
