यो २-५ हजार मिटरतिर ३-५ फिट अग्लो हुन्छ । यसको पात प्राय: पाँच भागमा विभाजित हुन्छ । एकमात्र काण्ड, पुष्प चम्किलो नीलो र फॅणाकार हुन्छ । जरामा पुरानो र नया कन्द दुइवटा रहन्छन् र स्वाद विजातीयद्रव्य निष्कासक मानिन्छ । यो मीठो अतिस अतिसार र संग्रहणी पेटको रोगमा दुई ग्राममा इन्द्रजी एल्केलाइट आदि रासायनिक तत्त्व पाइन्छ । यो दीपन, पाचन, ग्राही, श्वास- कासनाशक, अशोघ्न, कृमिघ्न, परपराउने केही मीठो लाग्छ । यसमा शर्करा, स्टार्च, बोसो, पेक्टिस, टेनिक एसिड, एकोनिटिक, एमारफर तीन ग्राम मिसाएर धूलो खानाको आधा एकघण्टाअगाडि पानीसंग खाँदा धेरै पुरानो जीर्ण रोग हप्तादिनमा पूर्णतयाः ठीक गर्छ । यसले मुखको गला घाँटीको समस्या, रक्तअर्श, एचआइभी/एड्स, आन्द्राको क्यान्सर, कालो विषमज्वर, अंकुशे जुका, हैजा, आउं-अतिसार, पेटका घाउ-अल्सर आदिमा लाभ पुऱ्याउँछ । यसको धूलोले निर्बलता हटाउँछ र पुरुषार्थ बढाउँछ अर्थात् शक्ति वृद्धि गर्छ ।
