    Description of the Traded Part:

The color of the root is light pink when young and turns to brown as it matures. The diameter is about 1 cm and has a slightly bitter taste. When chewed, there is the effect of puckering, typical of the astringent properties.

    Use:

As such, commercial application in the production of toothpaste is widely made from Bajradanti roots. Astringent properties are contained by the sap of the plant, which helps strengthen the gums and keep oral health normal. Its name "Bajradanti" refers to "strong teeth," thereby reflecting its traditional use in dental care.

    Medicinal Use for Stomach Problems:

Bajradanti is used in folk medicine to treat people who suffer from stomach ache. It soothes the digestive system and hence can be used against gastritis and other similar digestive problems.

Treatment for Worms: The herb is also used against intestinal worms, which happen to be a big problem in many rural areas. Antiparasitic properties help clean the digestive tract. Properties and Benefits:

    Astringent:

It is an astringent that decreases the looseness of tissues, hence effective in loose gums and dental problems. Anti-Inflammatory: It has a mild anti-inflammatory action to reduce swelling and tenderness, particularly in gums and the lining of the stomach. Antibacterial: Antibacterial action of Bajradanti is very helpful to fight infections and bad odor of the oral cavity to keep teeth from decaying.

    How to Use:

Traditionally, the root powder is mixed with salt or other herbs and used as toothpowder in dental care. The toothpowder should be applied very gently to the teeth and gums for cleaning and giving strength to them.

    Stomach ailments:

The decoction made from the roots may be consumed in smaller amounts, after which it is capable of curing stomach aches. The average consumption amount is roughly one tablespoon of this decoction two to three times every day, although one should always consult an authority in the process of doing so.

For Worms: Apart from these, the decoction of Bajradanti can also be prepared for children and adults suffering from intestinal worms. Preparation will not only kill the parasites but will also purify the digestive tract naturally.

    Conservation Status:

Although Bajradanti grows in the high-altitude areas of Nepal, it faces a potential threat due to over-harvesting for commercial purposes. It is very important that harvesting should be done in an eco-friendly way so that the continuation of this herb is guaranteed. Awareness among locals and regulatory mechanisms by the government also help in conservation.

    Conclusion:

Bajradanti, better known as Cinquefoil or Silver Leaf, is one of the multi-purpose herbs in Nepal, ranging from dental care to digestive health. This plant grows almost all over Nepal's mountainous regions and makes a good resource in this sense; however, its excessive use needs proper control so that the continuity of the plant for the future is guaranteed.
