The Himalayan Silver Birch, Betula utilis D. Don, is a
superb hard wood deciduous tree, which typically populates the high Himalayas
and attains a height of as much as 20 meters. This tree belongs to the family
of Betulaceae, widely known for its peculiar paper-like bark and pharmaceutical
properties. The leaves are small, oval-shaped with serrated edges; flowers and
fruits appear from July to October.

The Himalayan Silver Birch grows on various altitudes
ranging from 2700 to 4300 meters above sea level, making it one of the
highest-growing trees in Nepal. It contributes much to ecology, especially

most common in the timberline zones of Himalayas, showing transition between
