वैज्ञानिक नामः Tinospora sinensis (Lour.) Merr.

परिवारः Menispermaceae

परिचयः

गुर्जो एक बहुवर्षीय पतझड हुने लहरा हो, जसको चिल्लो

    मजबूत काण्ड हुन्छ। यसको काण्डलाई चिरिएपछि भित्री भाग हरियो बाहिरी भाग हल्का खैरो वा खरानी रंगको हुन्छ। यसको पातहरू मुटु आकारका हुन्छन्, जसमा नसाहरू प्रस्ट रूपमा देख्न सकिन्छ। गुर्जो नेपालका तराई मध्य पहाडी क्षेत्रमा १५० देखि ११०० मिटरको उचाइमा पाइन्छ। यो वनस्पति वसन्तमा फुल्न सुरु गर्छ हिउँदमा फल लाग्छ।

    उपलब्धताः

    गुर्जो नेपालका तराई मध्य पहाडी क्षेत्रमा प्रचुर मात्रामा पाइन्छ। यो विशेषगरी १५० देखि ११०० मिटरको उचाइसम्म पाइन्छ। यसले नेपालका ग्रामीण तथा पहाडी क्षेत्रमा धेरै मानिसहरूको जीवनमा महत्त्वपूर्ण योगदान पुर्याउँछ।

    संकलन समयः

    गुर्जोको काण्ड वा डाँठको संकलन माघदेखि चैत महिनासम्म गरिन्छ। यस समयमा यसको औषधीय गुणहरू बढी प्रभावकारी हुन्छन्। बजारमा यसको काण्ड धेरै मात्रामा प्रयोग गरिन्छ यसले व्यवसायिक दृष्टिकोणबाट महत्त्वपूर्ण स्थान ओगटेको छ।

    व्यापारमा आउने भागः

    गुर्जोको काण्ड नै व्यापारमा बढी प्रयोग हुने भाग हो। काण्डको बाहिरी भागमा हल्का खैरो वा खरानी रंगको पातलो तह हुन्छ भने भित्री भाग हरियो हुन्छ। यसको स्वाद थोरै तितो, टर्रो गुलियो हुन्छ।

    प्रयोगः

    गुर्जोको काण्डमा धेरै महत्त्वपूर्ण वनस्पतिक रसायनहरू पाइन्छन् जसले स्वास्थ्यलाई राम्रो बनाउन मद्दत गर्छ। यसको काण्डमा Tinocordifolin Tinocordifoliside नामक रसायन पाइन्छ, जुन दम, खोकी, ब्रोंकाइटिस, ज्वरो, मधुमेह, अमलपित्त, छालासम्बन्धी रोगहरू, पिसाबसम्बन्धी समस्या, कुष्ठरोगजस्ता रोगहरूको उपचारमा प्रयोग गरिन्छ। यसको प्रयोग शक्तिवर्धक औषधिको रूपमा पनि हुन्छ गुर्जोबाट बनेको जडीबुटी चिया पनि प्रख्यात छ।

    . इम्यूनिटी बढाउने: गुर्जोको नियमित सेवनले शरीरको प्रतिरक्षा प्रणाली बलियो बनाउन मद्दत गर्छ। यसमा पाइने रसायनहरूले शरीरलाई रोगसँग लड्न सक्षम बनाउँछ। . डायबेटिस नियन्त्रण: मधुमेह भएका बिरामीहरूका लागि गुर्जो निकै उपयोगी छ। यसले रगतमा चिनीको मात्रा सन्तुलनमा राख्न मद्दत गर्छ। . पाचन समस्या सुधार गर्ने: गुर्जोले पेटसम्बन्धी समस्या, अम्लपित्त, अपचलाई सुधार गर्न मद्दत गर्छ। . तापक्रम घटाउने: यो ज्वरो कम गर्न प्रयोग गरिने प्राकृतिक औषधि हो। बुखार भएको समयमा गुर्जोको रसले राहत पुर्याउँछ। . चर्मरोगको उपचार: छालामा हुने समस्याहरू, जस्तै दाग, फोका, कुष्ठरोगमा यसको प्रयोग विशेष उपयोगी मानिन्छ।

    प्रयोग विधिः

    गुर्जोको प्रयोग विभिन्न तरिकामा गर्न सकिन्छ। यसको पात, डाँठ, रस औषधिका रूपमा प्रयोग गरिन्छ।

                 गुर्जो चिया: यसको काण्डलाई सुकाएर वा ताजा काण्डलाई पानीमा उमालेर चिया बनाएर पिउने गरिन्छ।

                 गुर्जो रस: ताजा काण्डलाई पिसेर रस निकाल्न सकिन्छ। दिनको दुई पटक यस रसलाई सेवन गर्दा फाइदा पुग्छ।

                 गुर्जोको चूर्ण: यसको काण्डलाई सुकाएर पिस्ने दिनको दुई पटक चूर्णलाई मनतातो पानीसँग सेवन गर्न सकिन्छ।

    मात्रा:

    गुर्जोको मात्रा व्यक्तिको स्वास्थ्य अवस्था रोगअनुसार फरक-फरक हुन सक्छ। सामान्यतया:

                 गुर्जो रस: दिनको १०-१५ मिलिलिटर।

                 गुर्जो चूर्ण: - ग्राम। तर, यसलाई चिकित्सकको सल्लाहअनुसार मात्र सेवन गर्नु उचित हुन्छ।

    संरक्षणको अवस्थाः

    नेपाल सरकारले गुर्जोको खेती संरक्षणमा प्राथमिकता दिएको छ। यो महत्त्वपूर्ण जडिबुटी व्यापारिक औषधीय दुवै दृष्टिकोणले नेपालमा अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण छ।

     

    Introduction:

    Guduchi, commonly known as Tinospora, is a perennial deciduous climber widely distributed in Nepal. It has a smooth, green stem that peels off in papery layers. The heart-shaped leaves of the plant are prominently veined; flowers appear after the fall of leaves, between the months of June and September, while fruits appear during the winter. This herb is widely known for its extensive medicinal uses and is an important herb in traditional Nepali medicine. Particularly, Guduchi is very prominent in the Tarai and mid-hill regions within the altitude of 500 to 1100 meters. Availability in Nepal:

    Guduchi covers the area of Tarai and mid-hill of Nepal, ranging from 500 to 1100 meters altitude. Its adaptability to each of these extreme climates prevails in the accessibility to many communities. The availability of this herb is wild, with quite a significant role in the livelihood of many local people.

     

    Harvesting Time:

    Generally, Guduchi stem is collected during February to April. The active medicinal principles are maximum during this time. Hence, many collectors prefer this time as the most appropriate for collection. However, the main traded part is the stem, though other parts have minor applications.

     

    Parts Used in Trade:

    The stem of Guduchi is the most commercially valuable part. The outer covering of the stem is thin, brown or ash-colored while its inner part is green. Its taste is slightly bitter, acerbic with a mildly sweet touch; it can hence be used variably in herbal medicine.

     

    Medicinal Uses and Benefits:

    Guduchi is known to possess a host of medicinal benefits, which have been useful in traditional medicine for ages. Its stem has bioactive compounds including Tinocordifolin and Tinocordifoliside, making it work wonders with respect to many therapeutic benefits.

     

    Immunity booster: Guduchi is basically known for its immune-boosting nature. It acts upon the body's defense mechanism and helps fight infections, thereby improving overall vitality.

    Dosage:

    The dosage of Guduchi depends on the form and also differs according to an individual's health condition:

     

    Guduchi Juice:10-15 ml, two times a day.
