उचाइका खुल्ला चरन क्षेत्रहरूमा पाइने बहुवर्षीय वनस्पति हो। यो झार वर्गको बिरुवा करिब ७० से.मी. सम्म अग्लो हुन्छ। यसका पातहरू लामो डाँठबाट निस्कने र ५ खण्डमा विभाजित हुने गर्छन्। निर्मसीको फूल निलो वा बैजनी रंगको हुन्छ र यसमा सानो पुच्छर हुन्छ। यो विशेषगरी पहाडका क्षेत्रमा अत्यधिक पाइन्छ र यसको जरा औषधीय प्रयोगका लागि अत्यधिक महत्त्वपूर्ण मानिन्छ।

Nirmasi, also known as Larkspur, is a perennial herb that grows 70 cm high. It is widely distributed in the high altitudes of Nepal, but more abundant on the open pasturelands of Eastern and Central Nepal from 2700 to 4200 meters above sea level. Its leaves are palmately incised into five lobes, and the flowers are blue or violet with a small, awlshaped spur. This root is of high value due to its medicinal properties and hence is in great demand in traditional herbal medicine.

Nirmasi is quite widely spread over the high altitude open areas of Nepal, particularly in Eastern and Central Nepal. This is the best habitat for this plant as it competes hardly for survival in open fields with plenty of sunlight.
